KNITTING STUFF / LIFE STUFF

60 years old and counting

A couple weeks ago my brother, 22, asked my mom how my parents raised a 60 year old woman and 30 year old man. We both act a little older sometimes, not all the time but sometimes.

I love to knit but I haven’t been doing it very long. My mom taught me how to do a basic knit stitch back when I was twelve or so. I only just taught myself how to purl and read patterns last November. When I was in Iceland this past summer I found myself knitting quite a bit.

My photographer friend Amanda snapped this photo of me knitting during a pit stop as we drove through the interior of Iceland.

Thanks for the photo Amanda!

During my trip I only had two things on my souvenir list: pictures and wool. I came back home with an abundance of both. I also picked up some vital knitting skills like how to knit without dropping the needles and how to add colour/read colour patterns.

This wool is the real deal. It smells authentic, fresh from the farm and that’s a good thing.

It’s midterm season for me right now and it’s also started to get a little chilly so that means it’s time to start knitting again. It’s a great way to get rid of stress and feel productive at the same time.

With all the commuting I’m doing I’m able to find time to knit on the train and when I start a project I get obsessed.

Anyways, here’s the two-tone infinity scarf I finished Thursday. Pretty basic pattern K1, * YO, K2tog* repeat, K1.

I’m planning on making a couple of hats next so I’ll post photos when I’m finished with those.
